History and analysis of global film, television, and digital-media entertainment industries, with attention to the connections between industries, production practices, and distribution networks.

  • Students will have an in-depth understanding of the cultural, economic, and regulatory complexities of the international/transnational media industries.
  • Students will expand their understanding of Hollywood as a global industry, but the focus of the course is international/transnational entertainment media industries.
  • By the end of the semester, students will understand media production and financing as a transnational project.
  • By the end of the semester, students will have a working comprehension of how key policies and business have changed and shaped the global media industries.
  • By the end of the semester, students will be able to identify the key global media markets and contemporary players.
  • By the end of the semester, students will understand how media producers' market to multiple global audiences.
