Course Description
Methodology of optics, electricity, and other skills related to the operation and use of entertainment lighting equipment. Students gain experience in reading light plots, safe efficient installation of a lighting design, and console operations/programming, as well as introduction to several basic concepts related to lighting design.

Course Objectives
1. Provide students with essential skills in understanding the use of electricity and optics in theatrical lighting fixtures and lighting control. 2. Students interpret and install theatrical lighting equipment in a safe, efficient manner based on standard methodology and plans and paperwork schedules that are utilized throughout the lighting segment of the entertainment industry. 3. Students develop practical skills in the wiring, hanging, focusing, and console operation of theatrical lighting equipment. 4. Students gain a knowledge of the vocabulary and essential concepts that apply to describing light and lighting design.
