Course Description
A continuation of Dance Composition, this course focuses on artistic creation through the medium of film. Students will learn technical skills and aesthetic principles of the genre through hands-on class activities and studies in cinematography and editing. Students will consider project pre- and post-production and digital platforms for film sharing.

Course Objectives
At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify a variety of aesthetic perspectives within the field of dance film. 2. Apply technical knowledge and artistic decision-making to cinematographic elements (i.e., framing, shot size, camera angle, camera movement, lighting) of dance film. 3. Apply technical knowledge and artistic decision-making to editorial elements (i.e., continuity editing, montage, transition, pacing, musicality) of dance film. 4. Synthesize a dance film project from pre-production to post-production.
