Exploration of the law related to developing and launching a small business. Topics include selecting the structure of and forming a corporation; protecting a business’s copyrights, trademarks, patents, and/or trade secrets; and complying with employment and consumer protection laws and regulations.

Students will recognize when legal assistance is necessary in the development and operation of a business. 3. Students will demonstrate the ability to use the class content to substantively discuss their legal issues with an attorney.
