Course Description
Issues and challenges related to design of action research in Learning, Leadership and Organization Development. Selecting and designing qualitative and quantitative research methods that support action research, including development and implementation of sound strategy for data collection and initial analysis. Emphasis on applied research methods to support scholarly practice.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various qualitative and quantitative research methods as related to applied research (generally) and action research (specifically). 2. Formulate ways to compare and contrast different approaches to action research to develop a research inquiry. 3. Design methods required to implement a rigorous and effective action research study. 4. Apply methodological skills in critically analyzing their own projects. 5. Explain the justification for research methods employed in action research. 6. Envision how to use research methods to support enhanced scholarly practice in their professional/leadership roles.
