Course Description
Introduces students to the problem of gender-based violence among college students. Students will critically think about gender- based violence, prevention strategies, and how to advocate for change. Students will develop skills to address gender-based violence and learn how to apply those skills to promoting gender equality.

Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the successful student will be able to: 1. Understand feminism and issues concerning gender equality. 2. Understand the scope of gender-based violence on college campuses and the scope of contributing factors. 3. Discuss how colleges and universities have reacted to the issue of gender-based violence among college students. 4. Examine Title IX policies and how they affect students who experience gender-based violence. 5. Demonstrate how to use current tools like social media to advocate for change. 6. Integrate technology into the development of prevention or intervention services for gender-based violence. o Understand how technology can be used to advance social good. 7. Critically think about issues of gender equity and how gender inequity contributes to gender-based violence. 8. Develop strategies for addressing gender-based violence on college campuses. 9. Gain a preliminary understanding of social work and the role it plays in gender equity and reducing gender-based violence. 10. Understand the role social justice plays in reducing gender-based violence. 11. Understand the experiences of gender-based violence of racial, sexual, and gender minorities. 12. Understand the specific needs of vulnerable and oppressed groups and how they experience gender-based violence.
