Course Description
Instrument theory and theory of specimen preparation for both transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Fundamentals of X-ray microanalysis, image processing, and image analysis.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
The lecture and exam schedule will be the same for BIO 504 and BIO 704 however, the BIO 704 graduate students will also be required to give a 25 minute presentation on the use of electron microscopy in some discipline of interest to the student. (e.g., neurobiology, textile manufacturing,plant anatomy, etc.)
