Course Description
Course includes the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Every Child Can!, Violin Book 1, and Viola Book 1, and Group Class Strategies courses. Provides students with skills and resources needed to teach beginning violin and viola to students using the Suzuki method.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to submit an additional research paper on a relevant pedagogical topic and will also be required to do a minimum of one live segment of group class teaching with Community Music School student group classes.

Course Objectives
Students taking the course will: • be conversant with the philosophical ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki's "Nurtured by Love." • gain understanding of the Suzuki Philosophy. • have a demonstrable knowledge of the repertoire and teaching points in the Suzuki Violin and Viola Unit 1 repertoire books. • develop unique practical skills for working with young beginners between the ages of 2 and 8. • develop skills for working with students at the Book 1 level in group classes.
