Course Description

Class will be divided into small teams, separately recording sessions with small Hugh Hodgson School of Music ensembles and producing finished products for commercial release. Advanced topics and techniques in classical recording include the pre-production process, recording “takes,” multitrack recording, the roles of the engineer and producer, creating an Edit Decision List (EDL), source-destination editing, and mixing/mastering.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to submit a final paper in which they will describe each step in the process of recording an album, noting any special difficulties and their resolution.
