Course Description
Advances students in the Pilates Mat repertoire from intermediate to advanced level Pilates exercises. The history of The Pilates Method is introduced, as well as the Pilates principles, guiding Pilates practitioners into a strong personal practice. Some prior Pilates experience is required, or prior experience with a mind-body connected physical practice.

Course Objectives
Students will develop an understanding of the concepts, principles, body alignment, and modifications specific to The Pilates Method. Students will gain knowledge of the anatomy of the abdominal muscles, pelvic floor, spine, and diaphragm. Students will develop strength, control, postural symmetry, coordination, and length in the body. Students will learn proper execution and precision within beginning, intermediate, and advanced level Pilates Mat exercises. Students will energize and center the body through the use of dynamic tension.
