Special Topics


Course Description

A special topics course in a variety of dance subjects, depending upon faculty instructor proposals; intensive study in selected topics in dance.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to do extra readings/assignments and write more substantial papers than will be required of undergraduate students. Written projects would include a comprehensive review of primary research applied towards a specific topic or a demonstration of mastery through an applied project beyond the requirements for undergraduate students, dependent upon individual instructor specifications. Graduate student papers and/or projects will be graded according to writing standards higher than the undergraduate students.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will prepare a research presentation of their work in a seminar-like format to their colleagues and professors.
  • Students will conduct research on an advanced level.
  • Students will produce a comprehensive review of current and essential literature on the topic.
  • Students will investigate, analyze, and organize materials.
  • Students will deliver a research presentation (to colleagues and peers).
  • Students will use the research in preparation of a proposal/abstract for a conference presentation.
