Course Objectives
This upper level course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage horses. Topics discussed in this course will include: anatomy, conformation/evaluation, health and diseases, nutrition, reproduction, behavior, genetics and exercise physiology. Critical thinking and problem solving skills will be emphasized as students integrate knowledge from the aforementioned topics into an equine production system. Written and oral communication skills will also be emphasized through individual writing assignments and group presentations.
