Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to learn the interconnection between the historical development of sport in America and the ways in which it parallels the growth and development of other social institutions (e.g., schools). Throughout the course we will also explore contemporary issues in sport and learn to relate them to social conditions. The ultimate goal of this course is to provide students a sociological understanding of sport that will complement their everyday knowledge of sport.
