The legal transactions involved in each stage of business evolution - from a founder leaving a current employer and the birth of a new company, through raising venture capital and growing the business, culminating in an initial public offering (IPO), acquisition, or other exit strategy.

Course Objectives
Students will: • develop analytical and editorial skills; • obtain familiarity with legal problem solving: formulating goals, expanding options, planning strategy, and making decisions; • understand how founders, managers, investors, and lawyers use the law to grow and manage businesses; • gain insight into how the law functions at each stage of business evolution; and • increase sensitivity to business and legal ethics
