Course Objectives
Students will explore the extent to which racism and discrimination exist in America; learn a variety of theoretical approaches to handling the question of race relations in the U.S. Understand the foundational components which frame the future of U.S. race relations. The ultimate goal of this course is to provide students with a range of ideas and concepts concerning race relations in the U.S. so that each student may intelligently approach questions of race relations from a sociological and theoretical perspective.
