Advanced Indonesian II


Course Description

Designed to bring students to a highly advanced level of speaking, listening, writing, and reading comprehension of Indonesian, stressing fluency in speech, written expression, and listening and reading comprehension. Students will develop familiarity in using the advanced grammar of Indonesian based on real-life contexts.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students are expected to achieve the following abilities: • Ability to speak an advanced level of Indonesian, such as how to sequence a number of events, how to emphasize additional information, how to state a condition and its future consequences, how to express a strong opinion, and how to formally express agreement. • Ability to comprehend complex sentences and to perform functions, such as concluding an extended utterance, giving the floor to the next speaker, speaking on behalf of a group, and emphasizing additional information. • Ability to read detailed literary and descriptive texts in Indonesian. • Ability to write compositions about past experiences, future plans, immediate surroundings, and other topics in the forms of a journal, letter, and advertisement. • Ability to learn independently via Indonesian websites and videos.
