Course Description
Through hands-on experience, students will be trained in different methods and techniques for conducting all phases of archaeological field and laboratory work, including surface survey, remote sensing, excavation, data and material recovery, recording, processing, and analysis. Students also will learn how different archaeological methods and techniques have changed over time.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to supervise the field and lab work of undergraduate students to develop leadership skills.

Course Objectives
The course instructs students on the different archaeological methods and techniques implemented in the field and the laboratory, and: o trains students on how to conduct field and laboratory research. o instructs students in the history of archaeological methods and techniques. o introduces students to new, cutting edge technology used in the field and the laboratory. o prepares students to work collaboratively in team settings. o coaches students to make logical connections between datasets and arguments. o helps students design and produce papers/reports and deliver research in oral and written formats.
