Study Away Experience of Greek Culture, Institutions, and the Greek Financial Crisis


Course Description

Exploration of topics relating to financial planning, housing, and/or consumer economics, via virtual experiences. Combines in-depth study with first-hand live virtual experience gained by interacting with speakers and collaborators from the host destination. Throughout the course, the students will work in teams to identify a challenge related to a topic of interest and they will research and present some unique ways to deal with this challenge.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will submit a 15-page paper in which they connect relevant empirical literature to the activities experienced during the virtual study tour.

Course Objectives

Students will learn from virtual live lectures and virtual cultural site visits, and will experience the life and culture of the country they are visiting. Students will take the information they gain from their virtual experience and apply it in the creation of a video presentation and written blog content that will be publicly available. The blog will allow comments and interaction with a broad audience. Students will focus on topics that are relevant to their major of study and interests, creating original and imaginative responses to current challenges in Greece. For domestic programs, the objectives will vary depending on the purpose of the course.
