Course Description

Power electronics systems span smart homes and buildings, manufacturing systems, smart grids, and electrified transportation. Principles, design, and applications of power electronics systems. Topics include modeling, control, and design of power electronics with applications to smart grids, manufacturing systems, and electric vehicles.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course, the students should be able to: • Demonstrate their understanding of power electronics technologies and prepare for advanced research on its interdisciplinary application. • Develop a fundamental background to pursue further study in power electronics, including both topology and control design. • Understand the emerging technologies in power electronics. • Communicate problems and solutions through technical writing and oral communication for a class project.
