Aims to expose non-thesis Master’s students to different aspects of nutrition research and to develop their understanding of research and ability to integrate and summarize information.

Students in this course are expected to attend the departmental seminar series and to provide a detailed synopsis of three presentations. Seminar with reflection assignments guided by seminar leader through a series of materials and direct communications.

Course Objectives
Objectives for non-thesis Master’s students enrolled in this course are to: • Define different experimental models used in Nutrition research. • Identify research questions and hypotheses and discuss experimental design. • Recognize how to read and interpret data. • Analyze and discuss current research in Nutritional Sciences.

• Identifying the importance of current research topics in Nutrition • Identifying gaps in the literature in Nutrition • Identifying the goals and specific aims of presented research during the Nutritional Sciences seminar • Identifying hypotheses or research questions raised and addressed in presented Nutritional Sciences seminar • Identifying types of experimental design used in presented Nutritional Sciences seminar • Describing key methods used in presented Nutritional Sciences seminar • Critiquing the experimental design used in the presented research • Summarizing key findings in the presented research • Analyzing presented research and how it supports/does not support research questions • Explaining if conclusions presented were supported by the data provided • Interpreting the results of the presented research • Discussing the impact of presented results on the field of Nutritional Science
