Course Objectives
The aim of the seminar is to help students acquire an in-depth historical and cultural appreciation of a literary topic. The seminar will be organized so as to allow discussion of a particular cultural, literary and/or historical issue.
Topical Outline
A cultural, historical, and literary study of major and minor trends, poets and works that have made or will make a lasting impact. Time and topic frames can vary according to the particular proposed course. Theoretical emphasis will be placed on the role and status of poetical discourse in society, the understanding and analysis of its distinctive language, and the nuances of the genre criticism.
