Course Description
Course applies core concepts in educational leadership with an emphasis on instructional leadership. Content includes the application of theory to planning and executing the major responsibilities of school- and district-level leaders. Instructional leadership emphasis is setting direction including focusing the school on goals and expectations and effectively communicating the direction.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to: (bulleted list) • Understand the core work of educational leaders • Develop a model project that demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and application of a role/responsibility of a school-based educational leader • Develop knowledge and dispositions required of educational leaders to continuously improve schools, ensure schools are designed so that every child succeeds in meeting high standards, and model democracy through practice • Analyze leadership behavior and outcomes related to that behavior • Reflect on and evaluate their beliefs and understanding relative to core concepts of building level leadership
