Course Objectives
Weekly research seminar in which Ph.D. students present their own work in a formal setting to students and faculty in the Comparative Biomedical Sciences program. Additionally, they will engage in discussions with peers about their research. Students will have the opportunity to present their hypothesis, specific aims, methods, and results to others as well as provide feedback on other students’ projects. This course will help prepare students for presenting their research at meetings, publishing their findings in peer-reviewed journals, and defending their thesis to their committee. Expected Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will be able to: o Critically reflect on a problem in their current area of research. o Analyze data and summarize results. o Effectively communicate findings to others. o Appreciate the importance of collaboration and disciplinary diversity in effective problem-solving. o Provide and receive feedback on research and communication skills.
