Course Description

This course introduces students to issues in sustainable development as represented in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. It focuses on economic analyses of these issues and policies to address them, focusing on the poor in developing countries.

Student learning Outcomes

  • Students will use economic reasoning to analyze key issues underlying a number of key sustainable development goals such as poverty, human capital, and environmental quality.
  • Students will read and critique empirical research that analyzes issues of sustainable development.
  • Students will understand how to measure impacts of sustainable development policies and use a framework to compare the effectiveness of policies.
