Offered concurrently with student teaching in Workforce Education, the seminar examines teaching, learning, and professional practice in field experiences. The course supports development as a reflective practitioner, preparation for first-year teaching, and the completion of teaching portfolios, the capstone assignment in the certification program.

Course Objectives
Seminar involves thinking, discussing, and acting on various aspects of teaching. As part of class activities you will: o Describe specific encounters in your teaching experience that may have been challenging to you such as content delivery, class management, and work-life balance. o Address the identified challenges using available resources to recommend or provide tangible solutions. Available resources could include literature, fellow teachers, and faculty. o Describe specific encounters in your teaching experience that you deem exceptionally well received such as mentoring students, class management, and course delivery. o Express in writing how to grow the aspects that have been positive in your experience. o Share and discuss the challenges and positive experiences during student teaching with the class. Frame the discussion within classroom practice.
