Course Description
Current trending topics in nutrition. Specific course topics will depend on current newsworthy nutrition-related events, stories, etc. An overlying theme across all topics includes focusing on critical thinking, triangulation of resources, and translating nutrition messages to the public. Students will explore current hot topics across various aspects of nutrition and practice critiquing and interpreting trending topics with peer-reviewed, published research.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Summarize the state of the literature on trending topics in nutrition 2. Consider counter-narratives to current topics in nutrition including bias, positionality, and conflicts of interest 3. Critically review lay news resources on hot nutrition topics 4. Conduct a review of evidence-based research to triangulate and critique lay news on trending nutrition topics 5. Evaluate resources on trending hot nutrition topics 6. Interpret and translate trending nutrition topics for lay audiences
