Course Description
Skills and systems for conflict management in the workplace will prepare participants to use dispute resolution skills and design dispute resolution systems within the workplace. Participants will learn how to prevent conflict when appropriate, manage conflict when it arises, and empower stakeholders.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate law students will not be doing any extra work beyond that required of the Juris Doctor students. J.D. students are post-baccalaureate students and the workload expected of them is the same workload expected of post-baccalaureate graduate students. Law students are professional students, not undergraduate students. Graduate law students are primarily international lawyers seeking expertise in the American legal system. This expertise is gained through exposure to Juris Doctor courses.

Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to prepare students to manage workplace conflict, as well as use, analyze, and design ADR systems for the workplace.
Topical Outline
The course will provide a broad survey of ADR in the workplace. Topics may include: -Spectrum of conflict -Types of conflict in the workplace -Processes: mediation, negotiation, coaching, ombuds office, facilitation, etc. -Systems design -Legal context/the shadow of the law -Confidentiality -Various case studies of internal ADR systems
