Course Description

Explores spatial concepts and new spatial analytical technologies in studying urban problems. By studying classical and cutting-edge published research in the emerging field, which leverages GIScience, location technology, and spatial analytics, students will critically examine the current state of knowledge in urban data science.

Course Objectives

This seminar explores advanced topics in Urban Data Science Geographical Information Science (GIScience). Students will critically examine the current state of knowledge over a range of fundamental and frontier research issues in leveraging spatial data science to study urban problems. The course aims to nurture independent learning and research ability and to motivate students’ interests in Urban Data Science GIScience through readings, critiques, discussions, practices, and research writing.
