Course Objectives
To provide students with a meaningful computer science design experience while: 1) enhancing their critical thinking skills; 2) reinforcing the logical steps of design; 3) enhancing their understanding of computer science design philosophies and procedures; 4) allowing them to synthesize knowledge gained in math, physics, computer science, chemistry, engineering, humanities, and social sciences; 5) reinforcing their communication skills through group project activities; midterm and final presentations, including oral and written reports and a poster presentation to classmates, faculty, and stakeholders; and 6) developing their teamwork capabilities.
Topical Outline
This course is designed to provide students with a true computer science design experience. The activities in this course will include problem definition, concept development, detail design, and fabrication.
