Course Description
An ensemble performing folk, classical, popular, nationalistic, and contemporary music and dance of Latin America including countries in North, Central, and South America as well as the Caribbean.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Students will be required to conduct research on the theoretical and conceptual frameworks of the repertoire. Students will perform appropriate solo repertoire in addition to ensemble work

Course Objectives
The successful student will be able to: - Perform choral, instrumental, folk, classical, and nationalistic music of Latin America including countries in North, Central, and South America as well as the Caribbean - Discuss the cultural and musical value of the repertoire

Topics of study include: 1. Introduction of the conceptual framework of the music 2. Overview of repertoire 3. Repertoire to be selected from: * folk music * popular music and dance styles of Latin America * nationalistic/folkloristic styles * contemporary and/or urban folk and classical traditions
