Course Description
The student will gain entry level knowledge and skills to
function as an athletic training student. Each student will
obtain 45 hours of clinical observation in an athletic training
setting to gain clinical experience.

The student will be able to perform fitness tests and record and interpret the data using accepted procedures and equipment.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to select and fit standard protective equipment that provides safer participation in physical activity.
The student will be able to apply protective taping and wrapping to the foot, ankle, hip/groin, shoulder, elbow and wrist.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to implement an emergency action plan.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to apply first aid techniques using universal precautions.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to apply immobilization devices to applicable body parts.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to instruct in the use of crutches.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to activate poison control services.
The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to record medical information using standard medical records.
The student will be able to application of cryotherapy, thermotherapy and hydrotherapy for the treatment of injuries and knowledge of the indications and contraindications for each modality.
