  • Students will build fluency in spoken and written Hausa.
  • Students will complete oral work geared towards promoting effective communications in day-to-day situations and functional tasks
  • Students will improve their oral proficiency by focusing on using the proper rendition of the language
  • Students will increase their reading proficiency by completing authentic readings of gradually increasing complexity including some literary texts
  • Students will expand their cultural knowledge through more detailed and nuanced cultural discussions

  • Simple proverbs and poems
  • Weekly Course Outline will be provided as well as the assignments and exercises for the week and their due dates.
  • The readings will be distributed throughout the course, and taken mainly from Nigerian/Hausa textbooks, newspapers, and creative writings.
