Course Description
In this introductory writing course, students learn narrative structure, writing, and storytelling for visual entertainment media. Students are required to write and workshop documents and short scripts both in groups and individually.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Upon completing this course, student will develop script writing conventions and formats (such as master scene format, dual column format, beat sheets, and treatments).
- Upon completing this course, student will master writing scenes with an active voice.
- Upon completing this course, student will demonstrate the basic premises of narrative theory and structure and be capable of applying that structure to narrative screenwriting.
- Upon completing this course, student will draft a short script.
- Upon completing this course, student will execute the process of creative production, from brainstorming, drafting, and receiving critiques to revisions and a final screenplay.
