Humanities Internship Course


Course Description

Students will partner with an internship sponsor with the purpose of obtaining practical applications for the skills they have developed as part of their humanities degree at UGA.

Non-Traditional Format

The majority of the course will be hosted by the site institution, for at least 129 hours for the semester, but students will participate in four discussion sections and will complete two reflection memos and one Internship Portfolio final project as part of the class.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • This course is designed to reinforce/practice the soft skills learned in the humanities classroom, to offer practical experience, on-the-job training, and exploration of career opportunities in various fields. This course fulfills the following objectives: - To help students compete more effectively on the job market - To enable students to put into practice the skills they have learned in the humanities classroom - To enable students to evaluate various career paths/options - To provide students with the opportunity to improve their professional skills

Topical Outline

  • This course is designated for undergraduate internship but will meet formally four times a semester. Students will choose from many different types of professional internships. Examples might include: museum collections internships, communications internships, and program assistant internships.
