  • Observe and participate in school-related activities relevant to teaching social studies to secondary students.
  • Plan for and teach appropriate social studies lessons to secondary students.
  • Connect concepts from Initial Field Experience in Social Studies Education with their teaching experiences through analytic and reflective thought and practice.
  • Select and plan for pedagogically sound methods for teaching and learning social studies.
  • Practice using pedagogical sound methods for teaching and learning social studies by engaging with secondary students.
  • Articulate their own pedagogical decisions and rationales for implementing various methods with secondary students.
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues, school personnel, and university instructors in a professional manner.

Topical Outline

  • Lead secondary students visiting campus through social studies learning modules during their visits.
  • 50-60 hours of preparation, implementation, and analysis of the learning modules across the semester.
