Rotating subjects in popular music that circulate globally, drawing upon a wide variety of styles and genres. Course content will be drawn from such topics as media industries, fandom, global jazz, third cinema music, festivals, electronica, and digital cultures. Students will discuss the ethical and political impacts of these musical expressions, and evaluate consumer practices as American and global citizens.
