Course Description
This class explores how theatre participates in multiple aspects of sustainability. Students will investigate how theatre engages with cultural diversity, social justice, and environmental activism. Students learn about theatre’s historical participation in these areas of sustainability and related theories. The course culminates in an immersive project of the students’ design.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
In addition to the work outlined for the 4000 level, graduate students will engage in the following activities:
1. Each graduate student will lead a lecture at least once during the semester;
2. Graduate students will function as leaders in group projects;
3. Graduate students will engage in periodic readings and discussions of additional journal articles that augment the week's topic; and
4. Graduate student final essays will be longer than undergraduate essays.
