Non-Traditional Format
Independent research project conducted in conjunction with internship. This independent research project will require interaction with designated faculty. This faculty will provide feedback to students' research proposals and assistance over the course of the research project. This faculty will be responsible for grading research paper submitted by student.

POLS 5030 and (POLS 4150 or POLS 4150H) and ADPR 3860

- Students completing this Applied Politics Internship should gain a basic understanding of the area in which they are interning, with an emphasis on deeper analysis of trends, practices, and important questions in the field.
- Students completing this Applied Politics Internship should learn to gather general information and data on subject matter related to their internship area and utilize it for academic and professional development.
- Students completing this Applied Politics Internship should gain skills and practice in the process of analyzing information and data on subject matter content related to their internship field.
- Students completing this Applied Politics Internship should produce a research memo or paper that will help them gain greater understanding and knowledge in an applied area of their internship. For example, a student interning with a party organization in their communications office may decide to investigate the impact of divisive messages on turnout with a greater focus on state turnout if they are focused on Georgia politics. Or a student may be working for an advocacy organization and decide to develop an advocacy campaign based on current research trends in information dissemination and mobilization.
