Course Description

Review of skills and knowledge needed to secure and succeed in an internship and/or employment. Topics include preparing a resume, marketing yourself, preparing for a career fair, job applications and cover letters, effective interviewing, evaluating your social media presence, including LinkedIn, the value of internships, networking, and workplace professional behavior.

Course Objectives

Students will: Prepare a professional resume, LinkedIn page, and cover letter. Learn to network to facilitate internship/employment search. Use services and information networks available on campus, such as the UGA Career Center and UGA Career Fairs, to facilitate internship/employment search. Evaluate their social media presence relative to employment. Hone their interviewing skills. Demonstrate professional skills and behaviors expected in the workplace.
