Virtual Garment Prototyping

Analytical Thinking

Course Description

Course provides a comprehensive introduction to 3D apparel design, focusing on garment simulation and its applications in the fashion industry. Students will develop skills in using specialized 3D CAD software to create and visualize designs and explore how physical textile properties affect the drape and fit of virtual garments.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students need to prepare physical fabric swatches, test them using textile testing equipment, and input the mechanical properties of the fabric samples into the 3D software to create realistic wear simulations. They will also evaluate the fit of the virtual outfit based on the stress/strain map and suggest possible improvements to achieve a more ergonomic ensemble.
