Basic principles and methods of guitar performance and pedagogy.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students: Graduate students will have heightened requirements for class leadership and song demonstrations. The final project for graduate students will include a more robust song demonstration in complexity and number.

Student learning Outcomes
Students will perform in individual and group guitar experiences, including leading and teaching monophonic melodies, chords, scales, and improvisation.
Students will apply theory and aural skill concepts to guitar performance and pedagogy.
Students will create and arrange simple melodies in assigned keys.
Students will prepare chord sheets in proper rhythmic alignment and chordal structures.
Students will perform a 3-chord folk song to lead in class.
Students will participate in class discussion pertaining to common problems and misconceptions related to folk guitar performance and pedagogy.
