Course Objectives
To answer specific ​research ​questions deemed important through mutual discussions with the instructor and ​by gaining mastery of the published literature in the students' areas of focus.​ ​T​o properly organize data obtained​, carry out statistical analyses as appropriate​, and prepare manuscripts and presentations​.
Topical Outline
Students will be expected to formulate ideas with a focus on plans to answer specific research questions deemed important through mutual discussions with the instructor. This course will involve active participation of students in planning, preparing for, and executing experiments. Students are expected to properly organize data obtained, carry out statistical analyses as appropriate, and prepare manuscripts and presentations to report the work. Involvement in routine laboratory activities, including assistance in maintenance of inventories, care of equipment, cleaning, sterilization, etc. Assessment of performance will be made by the instructor taking into account the student's efforts, intellectual contributions, productivity as reflected by results, and progress in achieving specific aims recognized to be important through the instructor's guidance.
