Course Objectives

1. Students will be assigned to work with at least 3 different companies, practicing veterinarians, and/or regional poultry diagnostic laboratories. 2. Students will keep a daily log of trips made and problems observed. 3. A modified problem-oriented medical record will be kept for each field problem investigated. 4. An outline of vaccination programs, coccidiosis control program, type of housing, feeders and waterers, and methods used for monitoring flock performance will be prepared for each company assignment. 5. Students will present a seminar detailing management practices and statues of flock health observed during extern period.


Topical Outline

Variable based on company exposure. Provides extensive field experiences with poultry compnaies and practicing veterianrians in the diagnosis and management of avian diseases.
