Student learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, students will be able to apply, integrate, and synthesize concepts from multiple fundamental areas of chemistry to solve complex problems.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the behavior of, and interactions between, matter and energy at the atomic, microscopic, and macroscopic domains using appropriate models and symbols.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to apply, understand, and interpret chemical nomenclature, notation, and symbols.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to predict chemical and physical behavior from three-dimensional models of molecules and ions.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to predict macroscopic characteristics of materials based on atomic and molecular structures using appropriate models.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate how chemical reactions obey various fundamental laws of the universe, such as the law of definite proportions or the laws of thermodynamics.
