Course Objectives
This course is designed to continue the study of complex structures begun in YORB(AFAM) 2010. The course will focus on further enriching the students' knowledge of the Yoruba language and culture. It is also designed to improve their reading skills while testing and advancing students' oral proficiency. Students will be introduced to more literary texts, including but not limited to poetry, newspapers, and magazines.
Topical Outline
The topical focus of the course will include (but not limited) to the following: - Yoruba social order including conversation rules - Authentic readings, summarization and translation - Overview of Yoruba language structure and grammar - Story telling, proverbs and wise sayings, idioms, etc. - Cultural presentations and discussions
