Course Objectives
This course will study the human figure by means of observation and implementation. The course will cover basic explanation of the skeleton and major muscles. Emphasis will be placed upon figure mass and muscle construction, line value and volume exercises will be presented to guide the students understanding how to develop solid anatomically correct drawings.
Topical Outline
1. To understand the human form in terms of proportion and perspective. 2. To grasp the basic gesture and weight shift of the figure. 3. To achieve a basic knowledge of the skeleton and musculature of the body and how they affect surface form. 4. To render the figure totally in a variety of materials. 5. To understand how drapery falls over the body. 6. To integrate the components studied into a holistic understanding of the human form.
