Course Objectives

This course is designed to facilitate the use of carefully planned assignments that will emphasize choices that have originated from controlled experimentation. Students are encouraged to explore the illustration of conceptual concerns that deal with non- representational and realistic imagery as it applies to individual drawing projects. Students will be expected to define a personal point of view that is the result of problem solving and a reinforcement of the basic concepts mastered from previous drawing classes.

Topical Outline

Advanced Drawing is a continuation of drawing principles taught in Drawing I and Drawing II. The emphasis will bo on individual student exploration at an advanced level using over-sized drawings. There is an extra focus on class work and independent work that maintains traditional drawing facility, while exploring areas which transcend realistic styles for their own sake. Students entering this class will be expected to bring self confidence and a desire to deal with the difficult issues arising during group critique. Students will explore color drawing, with long range assignments that underscore the need to coordinate time management in the creative process. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of media and to work with none-representational subject matter.
