Textile Design and Fabrication

Course Description

This course explores the design and creation of woven and knitted textiles using digital tools. Students will learn to design textiles through specialized software and translate their designs into physical form using textile machinery. The course emphasizes understanding fabric structures, properties, and the process of moving from design to fabrication.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students are required to investigate research topics within the scope of the course. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of novel or under explored functional materials into woven or knitted structures and scientific examination of their performance. The investigation will include a comprehensive review of prior research, articulation of the novelty, development of a prototype for proof of concept, and preliminary testing. Students are expected to complete their studies within the semester and create the outcomes at the level of a conference presentation.
