Course Description

A continuation of Advanced Japanese II, with emphasis on improved proficiency in the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and concentration on the reading of literary texts in Japanese.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to develop, support, and express ideas in written and oral forms using the Japanese language with clarity and precision in coherent, cohesive essay writing and oral, interpersonal communication at an advanced level. The main text is "4技能でひろがる中級日本語カルテットII (Quartet: Intermediate Japanese across the Four Language Skills II)."
  • Students will be able to interpret the formal, aesthetic, and creative elements of literary and cultural texts and the sociocultural and historical contexts in which they circulate, thereby attaining bicultural awareness and understanding.
