Course Objectives
This seminar is designed to familiarize students with significant trends affecting American communities, offering alternative explanations for these patterns, as well as possible policy responses. From this course, students will be able to learn how to operate as a professional in the modern urban environment of the United States. In particular, the student will learn different professional roles in the urban setting to include city/county manager, personnel director, director of finance, and other professional roles. At the outcome of the course, the student will have a better idea of how all of the roles work and how they interact with each other.
